We care about your privacy as much as you care about your focus.

What We Collect

  • Account info: your email address and any display name you set. Required to save your buddies, sessions, and progress across devices.
  • Usage data: focus session length, completed sessions, coin balance, buddies you create, themes you choose, and how you interact with your buddy. Powers your stats, vault, and personalized experience.
  • Buddy content: names, descriptions, and prompts you create for your buddies, plus any chat history. You own this content.
  • Payment info: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. We see only your subscription status, the amount charged, and your billing location for tax purposes.
  • Device info: basic browser and device type so the app renders correctly. Anonymized analytics about which features you use, to help us improve.

What We Do With It

We use your data to run the app for you. We do not sell it. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not train external AI models on your buddy conversations. We may use anonymized, aggregated patterns to improve the app for everyone.

Who We Share It With

Stripe for payments. Our hosting and backend provider (Supabase or equivalent) for storage. Email delivery providers for transactional emails like receipts and password resets. Law enforcement only if legally compelled. That is the full list.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your theme, and save your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Your Age

Study Buddy Stars is for users 12 and older. Some features may require you to be 18 or older. If you are under 13, please get a parent or guardian to set up your account.

Your Rights

You can export your data at any time from Settings. You can delete your account, which permanently removes your buddies, sessions, and personal data. You can request a copy of everything we have on you by messaging us through the in-app Message Team.

How Long We Keep It

Active accounts: as long as you keep using us. Deleted accounts: removed within 30 days, except where law requires longer retention of payment records.

Updates to This Policy

We will tell you in-app if anything material changes. By continuing to use the app after a change, you accept the updated policy.
